I installed the Acrobat 11 demo, then uninstalled it after the 30 days were up and I couldn't find a compelling reason to upgrade from Acrobat 9.
However, I can no longer create PDFs!
After uninstalling Acrobat 11, both Acrobat Distiller *and* the Acrobat PDF printer instance are gone.
So I can no longer save as PDF from FrameMaker nor any other application. Nor can I save as a .ps file and distill to a PDF.
Having a demo version of software disable and permanently damage an existing installation of software is simply not acceptable.
I have had exactly the same problem as the person in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3644267?tstart=0#3644267 -- and I have similar levels of irritation and disgust with the "trial" software. It has indeed been a "TRIAL" to deal with!!
There is NO "Fix installation" option available under the Acrobat 9 Help menu.
I tried using Check for Updates and the software did nothing obvious. This is not surprising, since I try to keep it up to date.
I do not have a functioning Acrobat 9 installer, as it is electronically delivered by Corporate. So I had to install the demo while the previous version was still on the system. That apparently clobbered several critical elements of Acrobat 9.
How can I get Distiller and the Acrobat PDF printer instance restored?
If there is no way of restoring the missing functionality, I'm going to have to recommend we investigate alternatives to Acrobat.
