I am trying to print off a large number of files from a publishing program, and thint them off using Adobe 9 Adobe PDF Printer (most recent updates). The printing was going okay, if kind of slow (5-30 minutes for a 300-1000pg doc) but I could live with that.
But, since about last Wednesday (April 2, 2013), the Adobe PDF printer has gotten VERY slow. As in, I can start it at 7am, and it will not finish a single 700pg book by 5pm.
The printer starts off knocking pages off relatively quickly, then slows down badly. Restarts do not work. Rebooting does not work. Reinstalls do not work.
It's not the files. Acrobat X and CutePDF can print them off. It's not the publishing program. It's the computers running Windows XP and Adobe 9 and 9 Pro that are bogging down.
What's going on?
