I have about 20,000 Word documents that need to be converted to PDF files. Using Adobe Acrobat Pro v9, I created a simple Batch Process to test the conversion of 4 Word docs and it took about 30 seconds per document which seems awfully slow. I have Word 2002 running on XP.
When the process is running, for each file to be converted, I see these messages:
- Starting application which created the selected document. Please wait.
- Please wait, reading Adobe PDF
With some documents, an Acrobat PDFMaker window opens and I see an additional message:
- Now printing page 1 of the document "word doc name.doc" on the Adobe PDF.
And with some other documents, after the above message, I see another additional message:
- Now printing page 1 of the document "Acr2CD.doc" on the Adobe PDF.
I don't know what Acr2Cd.doc is, and sometimes this name is different, but always begins with Acr, like Acd2A4 for example.
My questions are:
- Is 30 seconds per Word doc normal for conversion time to a PDF?
- Is there anything I can configure to shorten this timeframe?
- Is there any other product that might be a quicker option to convert Word docs to PDF?
Many Thanks - Ted M.
