How do I keep a signature added to a pdf file checkout out of SharePoint using Safari?

When I check out a pdf file from SharePoint using Safari, I have access to the acrobat tool using the adobe icon at the bottom of the Safari page. I I appear to be able to add my eSig. But, after checking the pdf file back into Safari and reopening it, the eSig is gone.
