With my Adobe Acrobat X Standard version I used to be able to convert and combine several Word files with the option 'Combine Supported Files in Acrobat' from the Mouse right click menu options.
However, I now only get the error message 'Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files.
I run a repair with the original installation disk and completely re-installed it again, but nothing worked.
