I've recently updated from Acrobat Pro 9 to Pro XI and I'm having lots of problems in basic navigation in PDF documents.
To explain these problems, here's a simple comparison between Acrobat Pro XI and Apple Preview for navigation purposes:
1) Searching within the current document (no indexing):
- Acrobat Pro XI: slow
+ Apple Preview: fast
2) without a search index, clicking on a search result and jumping to the corresponding location in the current document:
- Acrobat Pro XI: very slow
+ Apple Preview: fast
3) with a search index, clicking on a search result and jumping to the corresponding location in the indexed document:
- Acrobat Pro XI: extremely slow if the indexed document needs to be opened
+ Apple Preview: fast
4) Grouping search results:
- Acrobat Pro XI: no grouping, no sorting
+ Apple Preview: automatically group search results by page; sorts results by rank or page order
These are significant problems that make Acrobat Pro XI almost unusable.
The lack of support for grouping and sorting search results is really a productivity drag.
Is there any hope on the horizon to get these basic issues resolved in Pro XI?
