Speeding Up GPO Deployment--Uninstall vs. Upgrade?

Greetings,

I've been deploying Adobe Reader MSI files using transforms and GPO successfully for quite some time. The only issue I am facing now is install time--there are always users complaining about having to wait for Reader to completely install before they can log in to their PC and start working. I'd like to reduce Reader's install time somehow or another.

For a long while (years actually) I've been deploying new versions of Reader in the uninstall/install pattern (uninstall the old Reader version then install the new one). I just recently realized that Reader can be upgraded via GPO. This excited me a bit because an upgrade should theoretically require less time (i.e. the uninstall step and re-copying of redundant files becomes unnecessary). However, with the latest Reader version (10.1.7) I tried an upgrade deployment via GPO and it didn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of install time.

My question is, should I expect that Reader installations will speed up if I use an upgrade deployment as opposed to uninstall/install? Is there anything else I can do to spead up Reader installations (apart from upgrading client PCs, the network, etc.)?

Thank you for your help/ideas.
