I was just about to purchase Acrobat XI because it’s a great package, I got my 500 dollors ready as when I looked at the site it was about US$450 which where I’m from is about 490 dollors with current a long standing exchange rates, added the item to cart, went to log in and oh what’s this, I have tried to purchase from the wrong site, I need to purchase from my local country site, fair enough.
So I go to the right site, about to add acrobat XI cause you know, it great. But hang on the price shoots from US$450 to the equivalent of US$600, now I try to be a logical person. For a digital download, for which I am paying the connection fee for. Why does geographical location cost me an extra US$150 for the same product, so I contact support in case I’m doing something stupid, I get lovely Priya who is very helpful and sounds very nice. I explain the situation asking if perhaps there is an error. Unfortunately not she says, marketing has decided that your kind of people should pay more for the adobe product, But how could that be, a digital download would cost them no more than if I was sitting in a state I visit and love like Oregon. So what is the extra cost for?
Well Marketing was the answer, someone at marketing doesn’t like my kind of people so I guess they are trying to price themselves out of my reach, after all this time, with everything that has occurred in history throughout the world, you'd think that it doesn’t matter where someone is from, idiots and nasty people come from everywhere at times.
Maybe I’m wrong somewhere, does everyone outside the USA pay an extra 150 for everything because there is a special tax on the electrons traversing the underground sea cables? I don’t know everything so maybe that’s true. In any case it is disappointing, I’m being driven to software piracy, but I really want to buy it as I believe in supporting software development, just don’t understand why my people need to pay so much more. We are not a big country, we have no international reputation I know of of all driving around in Bentley’s or Bugatti's. Actually I drive a GM. which is irrelevant really.
Does everyone out there pay this much extra to be offshore or is it because of my race?
