Cannot get access to internet from documents

I cannot get access to the internet from any link embedded in the document.  It tells me "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.  You may not have the appropriate  permissions to access the item."  I do not know what is wrong.  I am using the Windows 7 version.  I have gone under "preferences, trust manager, internet access from pdf files outside the web browser, allow pdf files to access all web sites."  The software does not look for anything and gives the original error code.  I do not know what to do....help?
