Adobe Acrobat Pro X 10 (v10.0.0) won't update

Hi there, I'm on Windows XP and run Creative Suite 5.5 Standard. I recently trialed Acrobat Pro XI and had to remove Pro X to use it as there were conflicts and neither program worked. After the trial period ended I uninstalled Pro XI and reinstalled Pro X from my original Creative Suite 5.5 discs thinking I could update it to the most recent version again.

Now I cannot update Pro X at all. It is working fine but when I run the updater I am getting the following error message:

"Update failed. Fatal error during installation. Error 1603."

The guide @ http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1603-install-cs3-cs4.ht ml applies to earlier versions of CS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
