I have had Adobe Reader 8.1 installed on my PC (Windows Vista) for quite some time. Lately I have been getting messages, I suppose from Vista, that the Adobe Reader is using a lot of time or memory when I am not knowingly running the Reader. I went on a website today that said I needed Adobe Reader 8 or higher to read the PDF files there. Because the files would not open, I went to the Adobe website and downloaded Adobe Reader 10, but I could not install it because it said that Adobe Reader 8 was running. I was not knowingly running the Reader, and when I looked on the Task Manager, the Reader did not show up. Is the Reader starting and stopping itself with no PDF files to read?
