Keep getting "adobe application manager required to start your trial is missing or damaged" error!

I keep getting the "adobe application manager required to start your trial is missing or damaged" error in Acrobat X Standard.  I install the application manager, input my serial, and it works fine for a while.  But the error always ends up coming back and crashing, and I have to repeat the whole process.  I'm on a Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat a few times, to no avail.  Please help!
