We recently purchased a volume license to upgrade our Adobe Acrobat XI Standard to Adobe Acrobat Professional 2017. However, after installing Adobe Acrobat Professional 2017, when we attempt to launch the program, it will open for a couple of seconds and then close before we can do anything like activate the product. How can we resolve this issue.

Troubleshooting performed:

Reboot

Uninstall/Reinstall

Use of Adobe Cleaner tools, and reinstall

System Details:

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

OS Version 6.1.7601

System Type x64-based PC

Service Pack Service Pack 1

Adobe Acrobat DC doesn't export alt text to Microsoft word

Could somebody point to a solution on why when I export my document back to Microsoft word I lose my alt text.  When I created a document in Microsoft Word all my pictures had alt text. When I saved to PDF and then open the Adobe Acrobat DC and ran accessibility checker, I had no errors with the alt text. When I exported back to Microsoft word, I lost all of my alt text.

Acrobat XI interferes with viewing PDFs on the Web

This issue is relevant both to PDFs that are saveable as a workaround (in other words, I can Save them from a right-click) and those that are hyperlinked in such a way that I cannot save them.

I have Acrobat XI Pro and also Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  I had a lot of trouble viewing PDFs in Internet Explorer 11 using Acrobat -- it would say it had "loaded" the file but took 10 or 15 minutes to display. I talked with my company's local support guy who had me uninstall and reinstall both, and set it up so that pdfs would open in Reader by default.  That worked, it would then efficiently open pdfs from IE using Reader DC, and if I wanted to edit a file with Acrobat, I had to have it saved locally an d then I could open with the right-click menu.

Unfortunately every time I tried to edit a file with Acrobat it asked me if I wanted to make it the default for pdfs and one time I accidentally clicked "yes" instead of "no".  Now, I again cannot open pdfs from IE 11.  Even when I tried Adobe’s sample (htpps://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Samples/flatform.pdf) the browser appeared to receive the file but didn’t display it, it just showed a progress bar saying “Initializing…” with the minimal amount colored in.

I went into IE and made Reader the default for all file types it could handle, no help. I went through the FIle Manager to make sure Acrobat was nto the default for anything else (file types Reader cannot handle), still no help. What is the problem? It is not an issue with Acrobat or Reader becoming corrupted; the problem first began when I had freshly installed them both but with Acrobat as the default pdf application.

When I changed defaults that had been “Acrobat”, I was unable to change the "protocol" called ACROBAT with the description "URL:Acrobat Protocol". It is listed as “Adobe Acrobat”.  When I try to change that my only options are Adobe Acrobat or "find an app in the Store", not Adobe Reader.  Is this the problem?

Adobe’s webpage “Troubleshoot viewing PDF files on the web” suggest enabling the Adobe Reader add-on. When I go to Tools | Manage Add-ons, Adobe Reader appears under “All Add-Ons” (enabled) but at all not under “Current Loaded Add-ons”.  Do I have to force it to load, and if so, how?

How do I control/reduce the image size in a submitted form image field?

I have a form made in Acrobat, and it works great, except that if the person completing the form adds a hi-res image, the size of the PDF becomes HUGE. Like from one mb to 35 mb.

Is there a setting in the Form that will control or reduce the image resolution or size and therefore get me a smaller completed PDF file?

I've tried optimizing and run an audit. The images are definitely the big problem.

Thank you!

Question Re PDF Forms & FDF Files

Hello - I recently upgraded to Acrobat Pro DC, so I'm still a little unfamiliar with all the functions. I want to design a form to use as part of an online college course. We want to use the form to send responses as fdf files from the students to the instructor (me) to verify that they have done the textbook readings. The questions and answers are written, but I'm not sure how to implement the form. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Garbage Characters

I have some PDFs that show garbage characters instead of actual words.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled PRO XI and things look great for a couple of weeks and then they change back.  Even files that were once in good shape look wrong now.

I have a sign in form that requires a date field. The field gives me a calendar to choose the date. When i select the date, i cannot get the cursor to TAB to the next enterable field. It 'Sticks' in the date field.

Suggestions?

Can I embed "open in reader only" settings into a document, not browser settings?

I need a FORM to open ONLY in the reader by anyone who opens it (assuming they have reader) and NOT open in any browser. If the form opens in a browser, the filled in info does not save...if opened in reader, the filled in info saves.  Are there settings I can save into the document itself that will force this?

This should be a document default, not a browser setting...as I cannot control the browser settings of every PC everywhere.

Thank you!

Renaming PDF outputs automatically

$

Hello,

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro and every month I have to convert a Powerpoint file into a PDF file. It's 30 pages long and the order is the same every month. Then, I have to split the 30-page PDF document into 2-page sets, and so I have 15 outputs names Part 1 to Part 15. Is there some way to automatically rename the files using the same order every month? Part 1 shoudl always be named the same way, Part 2 as well etc. At the moment I rename them manually and it's a big waste of time.

If I could have a preset list of the 15 files I want to use, and just apply them to my output automatically, that would be great. Is that possible?

Thanks!

Need to send a fillable PDF form to Adobe Sign, then have it emailed to my client

I've looked through the forums and watched a bunch of tutorials, but I'm finding it confusing. Acrobat has changed a lot since I last used it. I have Acrobat Pro DC, and I've already used it to created a form with all the fields and a Submit button. I'm doing this for my client (a real estate company) to automate their form submission process.

Here's what I want to do:

  • Their customer clicks on a PDF form and it opens in Acrobat Reader
  • The customer fills out all the pre-built fields in the form, then clicks Submit (I already understand how to format fields, set required fields, etc)
  • The document goes to Adobe Sign (which I already have a subscription to)
  • The customer signs the document, then the PDF is emailed to my client

I understand that I don't have to use Adobe Sign for signatures, but it supposedly simplifies the signing process. I went through the signing process just using Acrobat Reader, and it's too complex for my client's customers.

Can someone please explain how to do this, or if what I've described is even the correct way to go about it?

Thanks in advance!

Where trying to use "Save As > TIFF"  or "Save As Other > Image > TIFF" from Acrobat Pro (XI or DC 2017) image create are different, depending on the dpi settings.

I am trying to save to a image file in 300 dpi, but the text seems to be "filled" but when I try 600 dpi and text are okay. Can somebody point me to the right direction how to save to image on 300 dpi without ruining the text (I want to get the same view on the exported image on 300 dpi)
