I used to be able to simply "check a box" then "hide" comments that have been completed. By doing so I was able to "quickly" visually track the revisions I make to my publications. Obviously you people don't need to make money working for Adobe. Those of us who use it to make money, too often loose money when unexpected changes occur in our work environment !

Disable FIPS mode in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?
Hi all,
I have searched far and wide, still can't figure out nor find any solution to disabling FIPS mode. Any documents that are configured to use digital signatures for us error out when signing with the following error:
"The document could not be saved. Use of non FIPS cryptography is not permitted while in FIPS mode." Then states document couldn't be signed obviously.
Anyone find a solution to this? I tried the bFIPSMode=0 manual HKCU entry that doesn't do anything. I also disabled protected mode. This instance of Adobe DC is on Windows 10.
Thanks for any help!
Attaching a signature to specified text fields
Hi,
Looking for some help if it the action is possible in Adobe Reader DC. I have created a PDF document which contains a number of sections. Each section has questions to answer and at the bottom, the learner must add a signature to authenticate their work. The issue is that if a learner adds a signature and then saves their work. The whole document locks down and no further editing of the text fields is possible.
What I'd like to do is have each section containing the relevant text fields attached to the relevant signature and the editing and signing of one section does not hinder the completing of other sections once saved.
Can anybody help?
Kind regards
David Parker
Automatic update for Acrobat Reader DC does not update
I have a computer lab all installed with Acrobat Reader DC. Some of them are on version 2019.008.20071, and some are on 2019.008.20074. We are having an issue with the header being cut off / trimmed when printing in Acrobat Reader version 2019.008.20071, but prints perfectly fine in version 2019.008.20074. Why is it that some PCs are able to update automatically, and others are not? How can I trigger the automatic update for all the PCs, and not have to manually update each computer 1 by 1? All PCs have the AdobeARMservice started.
Fill and Sign function available for 3rd party?
I tried to prepare a form to enter text into fields for a client and have them sign, but it seems when I send it out to sign they can only sign and not fill in the data fields. Is there a way to do both or have I made a mistake?
TIA
Chris
Converting PDF to Excel
I'm getting "an error occurred while trying to access the service" message when trying to convert a PDF (bank statement) to Excel. I've paid for the annual service. Please advise. I'm on a Macbook Pro.
Adobe Acro Cleaner DC 2015 Uninstall Error Code -1073740940 Failed to Uninstall on Windows 10 1803
Trying to push an Uninstall script to our Windows 10 clients. We are pushing AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.exe /silent /product=1 /cleanlevel=0 via SCCM to our clients running Windows 10 1803 and it is failing on 90% of them. This is failing for both Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 and 2018.
Also when digging through C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\RaftLogs we are seeing the below:
We have not had any of these issues pushing to our Windows 7 clients.
The entire reason we are forcing an uninstall is because our end users are seeing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 and 2018 hang and not allow them to open PDFs until the AcroRd32.exe process(s) are killed in the task manager manually. We have never had this problem until we started rolling out Windows 10.
The only fix we found was to disable "Enable Protected Mode at startup" which is not an ideal fix.
Missing Shortcut from App-V Sequence
I've created an App-V sequence of Adobe Acrobat DC 18.011.20063 via the document App-V Deployment | Acrobat DC. When I test by installing on a VM using the Powershell command Add-AppvClientPackage <package.appv> -DynamicDeploymentConfiguration <DeploymentConfig.xml> | Publish-AppvClientPackage -Global | Mount-AppvClientPackage, it installs and launches successfully.
However, when the same sequence is pushed to the machine via SCCM, the Adobe Acrobat DC shortcut is missing from the Start Menu. The Distiller shortcut is present as well as all the files in the App-V folder. I've tried many things to get this to work properly and no luck.
There is an application in the DeploymentConfig.xml called AcrobatInfo.exe which has the same <name> as Adobe Acrobat DC. I've set that to "Application Enabled=False" and no luck.
Any ideas to help me out? I'm stumped.
I would love the old version back!!
I don't understand why I cannot find any other information on this but I would use adobe to fill out inspection forms that I send to my customers. Since the update I can no longer fill out my forms easily with check marks because adobe now wants to be helpful and change my mouse to a word box... While I have very choice words for that decision I can, with more time spent, work around it by placing my check marks incorrectly and then re positioning them. My current non fixable issue is that I no longer have the ability to create a signature from a typed name. And the signature I had created before the update, that I used for literally 2 years is gone.... ( insert many, many choice words). Any and all help is appreciated.
Ps. Heaven forbid things just work as they were suppose to....
Adobe text fields no longer populate
Issue: customers create PDF files using Acrobat or get them from a vendor. They insert text fields that map to data fields from an xml file (I think). The data is flowing fine but periodically the PDF with the fields stop filling data from the XML. Wondering if this is a known issue and if it could have to do with the PDF being a scanned document versus built in Adobe Acrobat?
Also, Is there documentation somewhere on how to pass an XML file automatically fill in text fields on the PDF file?
crashing during ocr
Is anyone having issues with Adobe crashing during OCR with no error? It also seems to be taking much longer to OCR each page (upwards of 10seconds per page). This seems to happen across multiple machines and configurations, and didn't happen in the past.

How to embed comments into pdf artwork on a Mac?
I'm looking for a way to embed comments into a pdf so that they will be visible when I import the pdf into InDesign. I have a workflow that works perfectly on a Windows machine, but I don't know how to do the same thing on a Mac.
I'll describe my Windows workflow below, hopefully someone can help me find a way to achieve the same end result on a Mac.
On Windows:
- Analyst prints a document (a chart) as pdf
- Analyst annotates the chart using Acrobat's commenting tools
- Designer opens the pdf and reprints it to pdf with Document & Markups selected in the settings
- Designer places the new pdf with the baked-in comments into InDesign, and all the comments are visible.
Note: If I were to skip step 3, then the comments layer would be hidden after I placed it in InDesign.
On Mac?:
- Analyst prints a document (a chart) as pdf
- Analyst annotates the chart using Acrobat's commenting tools
- Designer opens the pdf and...
I know that Mac uses "Save as PDF" instead of "Print to PDF", but I don't know how to do this in a way that will make the annotations visible when I import the artwork into InDesign. Hoping one of you Mac users can help!
How to make an editable PDF that multiple people can open, add type and save over the original file
I've made an editable PDF and put it on a server so that multiple people can open it and add their info. Unfortunately when they open and add text and try to save it back down they get an error that says it can't be saved. They can do a save as and save it that way but this needs to be one file with everyone's info on it.
I found a post on here from 10-8-15 but the question was never really answered.
I'm using Acrobat Pro DC.
Split the PDF with break of specific word
Dear Experts,
I have 500 pages of PDF, I wanted to split the PDF with the break of specific text and name the PDF
For example:- in the 1st page text ' Invoice' is there, then in 4th page text 'invoice' there, then 11th page text invoice there, then 16th page text 'invoice' there and so on
my pdf split will be :- 1st split will be three pages, and 2nd split will be 7 pages, and 3rd split will be 5 page( each time when it find the word 'Invoice', it should break)
naming file:- there is a invoice number after the word invoice, file should be named with invoice number.
I have Acrobat 9 professional installed in our system, how do I get the above resulf.
Thanks
Abdul
Character Encoding
I have a document that was sent to me as a pdf. I have to make it accessible for the school website. When I first ran the accessibility checker, 17 things failed, 12 passed. I ran the action wizard>make accessible, then I had 1 thing fail. The problem is, the thing that failed is the character encoding, which passed the first time I ran the checker. What is happening that running the action wizard>make accessible makes something that passed the first time, fail the 2nd time.
When I click on the word 1, word 2, etc. it does not show me where those things are. How can I try and fix something that I don't know where it is?
Help with loop for pages and ocg
I am trying to create a bookmark with a JavaScript function attached to it. I have done that. It is under a parent bookmark called Schematic Tools.
My problem is that the iterations of my for loop are off. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. The layers I am looking for will ONLY exist on odd page numbers (odd being based on the page 1 is page[0] so they are on pages 2, 4, 6, 8, etc..
var onPage = 1; var usablePages = []; for (var z = 0; z < this.numPages; z++) { if (onPage <= this.numPages) { usablePages.push((onPage + 1)); onPage += 2; } } // Array of all of the layers var ocgArray = this.getOCGs(); // Create a header bookmark for all isolation tools to go under this.bookmarkRoot.createChild("Schematic Tools"); var headerBookmark = this.bookmarkRoot.children[0]; headerBookmark.style = 3; // Alphabetize the layers ocgArray.sort(); for (var z = 0; z < usablePages.length; z++) { for (i = 0; i < ocgArray.length; i++) { if (ocgArray[i].name == "No Color") { headerBookmark.createChild({ cName: ocgArray[i].name, cExpr: "noColor();", nIndex: i }); console.println("Page #: " + usablePages[z] + " Layer: " + ocgArray[i].name); } if (ocgArray[i].name == "Black (Ground)") { headerBookmark.createChild({ cName: ocgArray[i].name, cExpr: "ground();", nIndex: i }); console.println("Page #: " + usablePages[z] + " Layer: " + ocgArray[i].name); } if (ocgArray[i].name == "032 (Red) (Battery Power)") { headerBookmark.createChild({ cName: ocgArray[i].name, cExpr: "zeroThreeTwo();", nIndex: i }); console.println("Page #: " + usablePages[z] + " Layer: " + ocgArray[i].name); } if (ocgArray[i].name == "640 (Blue) (Key Power)") { headerBookmark.createChild({ cName: ocgArray[i].name, cExpr: "sixFourZero();", nIndex: i }); console.println("Page #: " + usablePages[z] + " Layer: " + ocgArray[i].name); } if (ocgArray[i].name == "021 (Orange) (Starting)") { headerBookmark.createChild({ cName: ocgArray[i].name, cExpr: "zeroTwoOne();", nIndex: i }); console.println("Page #: " + usablePages[z] + " Layer: " + ocgArray[i].name); } } }
Here is the output to the console I am getting:
Page #: 2 Layer: 021 (Orange) (Starting)
Page #: 2 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 2 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 2 Layer: No Color
Page #: 2 Layer: No Color
Page #: 4 Layer: 021 (Orange) (Starting)
Page #: 4 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 4 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 4 Layer: No Color
Page #: 4 Layer: No Color
I know for a fact that this is what the CORRECT output SHOULD be:
Page #: 2 Layer: 021 (Orange) (Starting)
Page #: 2 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 2 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 2 Layer: No Color
Page #: 4 Layer: 021 (Orange) (Starting)
Page #: 4 Layer: 032 (Red) (Battery Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: 640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Page #: 4 Layer: Black (Ground)
Page #: 4 Layer: No Color
Here are the bookmarks that get created:
What I would love ideally is if it would break them up under two parent headers
Schematic Tools - Page 1
021 (Orange) (Starting)
032 (Red) (Battery Power)
640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Black (Ground)
No Color
Schematic Tools - Page 2
021 (Orange) (Starting)
032 (Red) (Battery Power)
640 (Blue) (Key Power)
Black (Ground)
No Color
Sorry for all the info. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How can anyone be happy that it now takes 3 clicks to email a pdf instead of just 1?

Quick Access in Advanced Search
Acrobat Pro DC 19 on Windows 10.
There are many times when I need to do a search through an entire folder structure containing many PDFs. So I go to Advanced Search and select All PDF Documents in, then Browse for Location. A dialog box comes up for selecting a folder. Why does this not include Quick Access? Navigating down to the folder I want is a needless pain in the neck. Seems like a simple thing to add.
